PBiS~Positive Behavior Support
District-Wide Discipline Policy
Each school has adopted a unified set of rules. Similar to the Student Code of Conduct, these rules define our expectations for behavior in our school. You will see these rules posted throughout the school and your child will be learning them during his or her first days at school. PBiS is a positive way to teach and reinforce behaviors. Positive behaviors will be rewarded and recognized, which in turn, encourages students to want to follow the rules.
To help your child make positive behavior choices we will be using a color-coded behavior chart. This chart is designed to help your child keep track of his/her behavior throughout the day. The sign gives students a visual representation of their behavior at all times. All students start out on green in the morning which ultimately means, “Keep up the Great Behavior.” If a student receives a warning, they will be moved to blue. If the child repeats his/her behavior, they will be moved to yellow and might need time to think about their behavior. They will get a “think” sheet that goes home for you to sign. A think sheet gives that child time to think of their behavior and to make better choices in the future. If he/she is moved to orange, you will be contacted via note or phone call. Last step is red which means office referral. Parent will also be contacted by teacher or principal.
